  • Can I fake Take Lanes in 8.5?

I was goofing around with Sonar Producer 8.5 today, trying to see if I could fake a "take lanes" sorta setup somehow.

I thought maybe there would be some way if I cloned a track a few times for a certain synth, then only record say, cutoff automation on the first run through, then go back and do more automation (with just the mod wheel or pitch bend)  but on the next cloned track...but I don't think it's going to work.

Is there any trick way I can do something like that?

I've tried it a few different ways, but it always records the automation to that 1st original track no matter how I try it, and not to the cloned ones. Might be something I am forgetting that is simple, who knows.

Anyways, it would be nice to have each one's automation (mod wheel, cutoff, pitchbend, or whatever) recorded from live takes and separated on it's own track, without having to upgrade that is.

Thanks ahead of time

No, I can't think of a way to do that in 8.5 - you'll need to be on X2 in order to take advantage of its Automation Lanes feature.

8.5 allows you to record multiple takes into sequential tracks. Look up "Record Options" and "Loop Recording" in the help file.
