Howdy y'all -

Here's this week's Kicksville release, Beaufort Tides: https://kicksville.bandcamp.com/track/beaufort-tides

The song is built around a poem written in 1925 by my grandfather, John Beecher. In the last 90 years, not much has changed - without getting political about it, there's no question the historical legacy of slavery still haunts us. So, this one's not exactly easy listening, but at least it's only a minute and a half long

cheers

Well, that was different.  The music was well played and produced.  The vocal is right in the pocket.  Very nicely done.  I'm not smart enough to understand the total lyric concept.  Sounds like Grandpa had a grasp on the vocabulary!

Thanks, Warren! I don't buy you not being smart enough though Despite some fancy words, John was just making the point that slavery was something that would influence us for a long time. And, like with a lot of other things, he was right.

As noted by Warren the mix is on the nail, though I would like to hear the vox up a bit.

Thanks for sharing

+1 - the mix sounds great.   The entire tune is simple, but effective.

Thanks again, y'all! But, um, Dave, there is no guitar on this track - that's all fretless bass

Really? Haha. I thought for sure that was some electric guitar in there. Oh well. :-) Still great!
