  • Since CW (Roland) are now partnered with Overloud how about licensing the BOSS pedal line? (p.2)

I had a BOSS compressor pedal back when I was 15, before I even knew what the hell a compressor did. All I know is that it made my strumming sound a bit tidier....loved it. Also had a BOSS distortion pedal around '89 or so. They were always top quality, both in build and sound.

That's a neat little unit, Marcus. Shame it only handles 44.1.

I think it would be cool to have a dual effort put towards getting all the BOSS effects pedals and units into an expansion pack for TH2. I've always loved BOSS pedals and Overloud seems to do a great job of duplicating hardware. Seems like a no brainer.

Who's with me? Would you guitar guys pay for something like that?

Cheers.

Almost all the Boss effects have already been "COSMed" so it should be real easy to do other dsp distribution package formats.

The smart guys in the Boss division may be reluctant to place their proprietary dsp mathematics on computers that are hooked up to the internet.

best regards,
mike

The VS-20 comes with 36 Genuine Boss effects that have COSM modeling already.

Watch the videos it has some kind of GUI that looks like a boss floor board.

I'm with you beepster. I think it may be available someday. All we can do is ask right?

I think they keep the actual processing math safe on board the Roland appliance and store the code on the EEPROM.

The Windows GUI app just sends instructions out to the appliance.

best,

The BOSS GT series is pretty good. I have a GT-6. Guitars on my tracks are usually either straight through my trusty old JCM600 Head and cab or straight through the GT-6 into the board.

I rarely use anything else. Still wouldn't say no to a software version though.

Well well! This status update from Cakewalk just appeared on my Facebook newsfeed: "Which BOSS US pedal could you not live without?"

Coincidence?

Very cool!!!

Sonar would take over the DAW world if they could cram in all the Roland genius. Craig Anderton said Digital Peformer was the DAW with the best stomp boxes but imagine if Sonar had a solid BOSS lineup included!

Beepin' the beast. ;-)

...and my answer for many years would have been the MT-2. I've tried MANY other high gain/distortion stomp boxes and nothing compared to it.

That's part of the reason I posted this. The TH2 and GR versions... well they just ain't the same.

The Blues Driver however is VERY impressive. It's great for making the gain on a good tube amp sound even sweeter. Awesome solo boost.

Their EQ pedal is another good one and although I'm not much of a phaser guy I used one of those for a while too when doing tribute stuff. They're just phenomenal pedals and I've never had one break on me... and believe me, I played some absolutely psychotic gigs where those pedals got MANGLE by booze spilling on them and mosh pits trampling them. The only times I had to replace them were when they got stolen.

My Boss GT-5 is now in a corner gathering dust, thanks to DI-ing and using GR5 and TH2...

So yeah, Boss pedals in TH2 would be a great idea :-D

And to take my praise for the Metal Zone even further... even when I had access to high end tube amps like 5150s, Rectifiers, Randalls, etc... I opted for the clean channel(s) with the Metal Zone on it.

Yeah I used to know a guy who ran a 2nd hand guitar store 20 or so years ago and he said the only used pedals he bought were BOSS because you could pretty much guarantee they'd be in decent condition.
