  • Since CW (Roland) are now partnered with Overloud how about licensing the BOSS pedal line? (p.3)

I owned like three DOD death metal pedals over the years and every single one screwed up. The housing is built like a tank but the actually stomp mechanism was cheap plastic and when I pulled them apart to fix them it was one of those crappy pad circuit switches. The internal BOSS switch is plastic but it's housed so well and the spring is heavy duty enough that it didn't matter.

The only two design flaws I saw with them was that plastic switch post and the skimpy little wires that hook up to the battery... but as I said they were housed so well the only time you could break that stuff was when the pedal was opened up.

The only other pedals that come close to durability are the MXR units... but they're rigid and not as easy to switch... I also don't think they sound as good.

Yay! Stompbox nerd thread!

I think it would be cool to have a dual effort put towards getting all the BOSS effects pedals and units into an expansion pack for TH2. I've always loved BOSS pedals and Overloud seems to do a great job of duplicating hardware. Seems like a no brainer.

Who's with me? Would you guitar guys pay for something like that?

Cheers.

Almost all the Boss effects have already been "COSMed" so it should be real easy to do other dsp distribution package formats.

The smart guys in the Boss division may be reluctant to place their proprietary dsp mathematics on computers that are hooked up to the internet.

best regards,
mike

The VS-20 comes with 36 Genuine Boss effects that have COSM modeling already.

Watch the videos it has some kind of GUI that looks like a boss floor board.

I'm with you beepster. I think it may be available someday. All we can do is ask right?

I think they keep the actual processing math safe on board the Roland appliance and store the code on the EEPROM.

The Windows GUI app just sends instructions out to the appliance.

best,
mike
Your probably right Mike. You would think if some company wanted the proprietary dsp mathematics then it would be pretty easy to reverse engineer.

I really have been considering getting the GR 55. Really incredible guitar sounds in that unit. I would pay for it in part by selling my GR 33 and GR 20 on craigs list. I am working on a plan to work it into my budget this year. I spent way to much on music gear last year, but half of my new gear I bartered for.

I love the Boss Pedals mabey we will see it in x3

I agree Beepster too bad it is only 44.1 k. It's meant for guitar players who don't like to dither...lol
