Acron
Hi,

Have been lurking around this forum since october and have finally managed to register. I have to say Cakewalk have come a long way since last I used it in 2003 (Sonar 2 if I remember correctly). I was using Sonar and Cubase at the time, and went over to Nuendo for practical reasons, as others used it and were schooled at it. After that I mainly played live for some years. Still, was blown away when I was in studio with PT7HD and the way the producer was drawing a new curve directly on the track to redo a wave that was clipping. Do we have this function in Sonar? I would love that.

I built a new DAW because I was moving (work) and had to quit the band and thinking I could finally start to make my own music again. I got a good deal on Sonar X1 P with the free upgrade to X2. I have not regretted this decision yet. There is alot of new functions that are very useful, and I like the way the smart tool behave. With the videos from Cakewalk Academy and now the Groove3 videos, I've learnt alot that i didn't knew was possible - at least not this easy.

Still I've had some issues. Have had a couple of crashes - mainly because of Dim Pro. Yesterday I started on a new project, and I can't hide strips in console view (and the track manager won't come up (works fine in other projects). Is it possible to reset project (only audio/midi/instrument tracks remains and the rest go to default? I'm wondring about if this are som bugs related to W7? I guess have to wait for the next patch to know...

Another things is TH2. The size between Producer and full version is different, and it seems like I can't resize any of them (in standalone mode I can). Can anyone try to resize? I can use the standalone to make patches, but it's just one of those small things....

Hi Acron and Welcome to the forum.

I think the limitation in the size of TH2 is due to the fact that these are VST plug ins. When you try to stretch it out in the traditional way that windows works it still won't resize. All my VST plug ins do this. I think when you open the stand alone version your accessing some direct X stuff that allows you to resize.

This is the way it is on everyone's computer. I see in your system specs you have the X2a patch. Don't know about the dimension pro. maybe it is something they are working on in the next patch.

Once again, Welcome to the forum!

That's odd - I can resize in either the Producer or the full version - different .dlls.

I think Acron has the upgrade going by his post, though:

I have the full version, and it resize in standalone, but not as a plugin. Full version is smaller in pluginversion than the producer version as well. Seems like different resolutions.

Jeff: Do you use X2 or X2A?

Ok, just found a workaround.
It seems that the plugin remember the max size from standalone. If i resize in standalone, TH2 opens default to that size and set that as the max size. I can crop it. :)

Anybode had any issues with the trackmanager? Only got it in one project. Tried to take down to a bundle file and open it againin a new location. That didn't help. Any other suggestions?

You got to install the update to get X2a It's in the support section of cakewalks site. I can't resize my producer version of TH2 even though I crop from the corner. It's no big deal because I use the Full version all the time.

there is a new update for TH2 full version. I have not downloaded it yet. I thought it just made TH2 compatible with Windows 8. Maybe I should install it.

The keyboard shortcut H brings up the track manager. If it does not work and you don't have the update then install the update X2a.

To tell if you have the update 1. Open Sonar. 2. click on help at the top. 3. In the submenu click on about Sonar. You should see (X2a build 351) if you don't see that install the update

Some plugins will resize and some wont. The TH2 will. At the bottom right there is a drag area and that is what you click on to drag it out.

Most plugins that resize resize the same way. You can't use the window border for most.
