I am not really sure on how to use a song a referencetrack in the correct tempo.
I want to import a wav file into a project and use it as a reference track.

Lets say that the project I currently working on is 126 BPM. I then want to import a song (in wav) that is 128 bmp and use it at a reference track. What is the best way to get this top play correctly in 126 bpm as well?

Hi there, you just need to set the clip to the project.

1. Import clip
2. Change edit filter to audiosnap transients
3. Open audiosnap palette (Press A) if it isn't already
4. Check average tempo of clip is correct. If it isn't select the correct one from the drop down.
5. Click on the resolution drop down just to the right of  "Clip Follows Project" and make sure "Clip" is selected.
6. Click on the "Clip Follows Project" icon.

That should do it.

Just a follow up Q. 

If I don't know the original tempo of a file or song? I've heard that I can double click the audioclip/sample and see the original tempo in the loop construction view. However, this seem wrong as I get odd numbers of the bpm (such as 133.38 and similar numbers).

Yeah Sonar doesn't always get it right. I use the old and trusted count beats in a 15 second clip and multiply by four. That'll give you a ball park figure which is all you need.

I tried your suggestion and it worked pretty well (about importing audio and sync). I cleared a few millisecond in the beginning of the song to get the first kick correct.

I also marked the imported song (About 5 min long) and switching to Audio transient. It stated Average speed: 125 in Audio snap. In Loop construction it was about 131, so this doesn't seem right. I clicked follow project and in puts in place. Then checked with metronome. Pretty good in sync. However, after a minute or so it was little out of sync. Had to quantized it for perfect match:)

Yeah - that method only works if the tempo is constant throughout. Any drift in the original is still there. That works for a whole project as well by the way just make sure you do all of the audio clips.
