Uhh...can someone basically teach me how to use X2 Producer (trial)? :P
I'm buying X2 Essentials but I want to practice with Proudcer Trial.
I've played with FL Studio before but I was never any good at that either. I should have mastered that before moving on, but I seriously need to just focus on one DAW and learn it (in this case, X2 Essnt). The things that I UNDERSTAND is that i need to put sounds together, layering them, and master it and blah blah but i dont even know how to open the sound here...EXTREME noob please help. Book references are welcome, but I'd rather not watch a video unless its REALLY REALLY helpful and no other Forum Links plz

There are tutorials in the getting started part of the online help. That would be a good starting point. Since you are not interested in videos, I will not point you to the CakeTV stuff on this website even though many find them useful. If you prefer to read the online help like a book, you can get a pdf copy here http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013290 When it becomes available (hopefully soon) the SONAR X2 Power book would be a good resource.

Thanks for the mention, Scook!

Evnabby... my SONAR X2 Power! book should be out around the end of next month (February), but it's already available for pre-order. More info at:

It would help if you could give us a little details about problems you are having. Also give us a list of your system specs. We can walk you through getting it to work If we have that information.

Welcome!
The SONAR manual has (still has?) about 1500 pages. There's a lot to read and study, and tutorials to go through, no need to watch videos ;o).
Asking someone on the forum to "teach me SONAR" is a little too tall order. Basically, though, you check that you have a decent soundcard (the integrated ones are more like a headache)with good drivers (preferably ASIO, ASIO4ALL or WDM may do also), and plug in the mic/guitar or MIDI keyboard (and insert a sof synth for it) and start making music.

Your Record and Playback timing master (in Preferences) has to be your soundcard, and Input/Ooutput drivers something like "yoursoundcard ASIO".

Study the basics by doing the tutorials first. Then ask specific questions and you'll get help here, for sure.
