  • How to move or point to the Garrtian Full 4.x sounds so they all play in Dimension Pro?

Gurus, I love the sounds but do not care for the interface of the Garritan player. DimPro is a dreamboat and I already have some Garritan sounds in there by default, but I am a legal owner of the full Garritan Orchestra and would like to use DimPro to play all my sounds for all tracks without the Garritan player involved. There must be a way to do this.. since it is already done partially for some Garritan sounds in DimPro. Thanks in advance, JB

No, that's not possible. The sound files for both versions are different and are not interchangeable. You're stuck with the Garritan player if you want to use the full library.

jubal,

I also use Garritan. Have you updated to the latest version of Aria player - engine (sorry no question mark on this laptop). I stumbled upon it the other day and it seem's better.

Scott, Thanks for the quick reply. Garritan Player is the only module in Sonar that behaves in an unstable manner. There are 4 different choices of bits and multi/single instances - not sure which is the best to use. I only want to use Garritan VST for one sound (one track) at a time. Since I have plenty of memory and CPU power, I instantiate one Garritan VST for each sound wave that I need (not too keen on trying to submix in the G. Player). Any tips would be great from the Sonar gurus. Since I am stuck with the G. Player, I will have to make the best of it. Cheers, ;} JB

Latest version of Aria player 1.5 released 28th August 2012    http://www.finalemusic.co...loads/Default.aspx?p=3 (you have to log into your account).

If your player is an earlier version of this then download the update, it is very stable for me.

What problems do you have with Aria.

I generally use Aria in single mode for each separate instrument and avoid the multi out as well.

I hope you are talking about the Aria player. You don't have to sub mix in it you have each channel out to its own audio track.

The notion of using one instance for each sound is counterproductive. You gain nothing but I can see you getting instability doing that.

You should learn Aria because its a great sample player.

Thanks to all of you for your replies. I have downloaded the latest Aria (and yes that is what I meant by Garritan Player). I will give it a go and also try the various approaches mentioned here. :} JB

I tried the lastest 1.5 Aria and man what a difference. I also tried the older method I used of one instance using multiple tracks (each on a different MIDI channel).. and that worked great too! It's like a have a new Sonar now!! Cheers, :} JB

Now all you need to do is upgrade to Sonar X2. Glad things are working out for you.

I can see where some folks can get comfortable doing things a certain way, but if you work with a lot of instruments, the synth rack can get very busy. I like to play with orchestral midi, and it's nothing to fill up 20-30 channels...
