It sometimes hurts. Painfully so. Even if you don't agree with it. Even if you don't understand it. And even if you think you need to suppress it...it finds a way to make itself known. That's the great thing about it. It cannot be controlled by us small minded dimbulbs. It seeps through the cracks. It won't go away. It shakes it's finger at us and reminds us of what really happened. It is relentless.

Thank goodness.

Isn't it great?

Well, isn't it?

I've always loved the following quote though I don't know who said it originally:

"The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable!"

^^^ This, rather sadly.

The hard dilemma: You can endlessly interpret things to form the kind of truth that pleases you.
A correctly made mathematical calculation is as close to absolute truth as possible for humans, but you can use it
to distract people who are not mathematicians. Loudest "This is the truth!" s in human history have often been the biggest lies.
People often (usually?) say that love is the most important thing in life. IMO striving for righteousness is the most important. You don't know  when you've achieved it or if it's possible to ever be 100% righteous, but anyway. Can any ideals be simply and exactly defined in practice?
Many kind of premeditated evil is done in the name of love, that's why.

Hi,

I'm not sure that many of us are capable of good "truth" choices, when everything around us is about something else, not "us", and we really do not have a strong enough inner sense to know what "truth" is, except what we're told.

It's really hard, for example, to watch TV and hear that fake laugh track ... that really helps you learn truth for yourself! And the worst part? No one says anything about it, because the same companies own the newspapers and the media ... thus, you are "isolated" from helping yourself learn something, that we all should.

It's a social issue, that becomes an individual issue ... but I still don't know how the kid with no shoes, that sleeps on newspaper, in the slums of Rio or Mexico City, or Santiago, can ever learn anything about "truth" ... when they will never even know what the word "school" means!

I think that truth  has sometimes been distorted by some dimbulbs to change the views of other dimbulbs. Sometimes the brightest dimbulb is really the opposite. Sometimes the switch is off. For a dimbulb this is bad :).

The truth be told it's not easy for peoples to know an absolute truth because it's not the same for everyone.

...the truth for me is that a Strat style electric guitar is the best designed electric guitar made. I know that doesn't hold true for everyone.

Sure makes it hard to deal with those that believe theirs is the only truth. Unfortunately there are those all around us that enforce their beliefs and do so supporting the fact that the truth doesn't hold true for everyone.

My "truth" is the important "truth". It doesn't hurt when I learn that it has changed and does so usually by learning; by growing; by taste...yes, tomorrow I may decide that the Les Paul is the best designed electric guitar and really don't care what others think about me changing my "truth" or what their "truth" is. I'm sure not going to enforce it or kill someone over it although there are truths for me that I would. Protecting myself or my family from a life threatening situation comes to mind.

I also know that I'm sure glad I don't share the truths with a great many people.

There are times when TRUTH is indistinguishable from PERCEPTION by others; in practical affect.  This is where leaders often fail, IMO.  What I mean by that is that they fail to OWN the perception(s) others have of them, attempting to wash perceptions away with simple words.  That doesn't work.  We all should own the perception others have of us.  After all, it's our own actions/words/associations that give rise to those perceptions to begin with.
