If you know what it isn't then it can be easier to find what it is. Sometimes it's like the layers of an onion. If someone is trying really hard to convince you it probably isn't so. A whole lot of fact and a little lie isn't truth. A present state only confirms a present state. A past state isn't whatever someone thinks it was unless they happen to be right. A future state is a guess, educated or otherwise. If you don't know what it is or how to find it, then you're at a terrible disadvantage.
The feeling that you may have found it can be misleading, since it isn't really about how you feel. Logic can be flawed leading to a false premise. Comfortable opinion is a terrible substitute. If it's autonomous of our thinking, then it doesn't need to hold to our thoughts.

Starise and I could get along.   I'm comfortable with ambiguities long enough to find out the truth of things.  The truth is, some people simply aren't comfortable with ambiguity.

BTW when did the smart people stop having the guns?

I know many very smart people that have very many guns. Guns aren't a problem. Stupid people are.

Some stupid with a flare gun burned the place to the ground. Lots of lucky people escaped from that stupid.

Spacey,  most of the 2nd amendment proponents are dumb as a box of rocks.  Show me someone who has a Phd from MIT and also owns guns...gentlemen farmers from Vermont for instance.  Not hayseeds  shooting at stop signs and drinkin wine from dixie cups.

Yeah, I'm sure you know all of them.

You're the one with a low opinion of gun owners.  I'm glad it's yours. I'll show you nothing. I don't care what you think.

No,  what I'm asking is why doesn't the NRA have venerable folk , Heston aside representing them.  One can't help but be left with my impression.  The only real positive role models are military folks.  *******(edited:  this took a poly tickal turn as beepster mentioned *lefty* when indeed it was simply an intellectual/legal discussion)

Nope, and I can't dance either. So I do it like no one is watching.
