Hi all
 
I took advantage of the Computer Music deal to get a free copy of HS with the magazine. I've installed HS and it seems to be working ok apart from some issues with particular plugins eg IK Philharmonik & Air Xpand but many other too. Some of the problems are almost certainly related to the fact that I had to install a new, larger SSD and didn't manage to clone the disc so lost whatever the VSTs altered on the C drive (my VST folder is on the drive). I also upgraded to Win 10 in the process. However I was wondering if part of the problems was incompatibility with HS and am considering reinstalling 8LE (which was also on my F drive but does not want to launch correctly. 
 
If I do this will I damage or overwrite my existing projects or any of the new VSTs / other content installed with HS. 
 
The VSTis I can't access are annoyingly the only ones I have paid for as I mostly have free ones from CM and freebies from developers so I don't want to lose access to them
 
Hope someone can help but appreciate it may not be possible to give a definitive answer!

Sounds like you need to reinstall the VSTi's again after moving everything around.  If you didn't clone the drive I'm not surprised you are having issues. 

Yeah I was gutted about my cloning issues and probably should have perservered.
I've tried reinstalling Miroslav Philharmonik - it works ok in standalone mode (apart from keeping telling me to authorise it which I already have done on the new disc -I'm onto IK Multimedia about that) but isn't recognised by Sonar HS
 
I've also reinstalled Air Xpand & reinstalled ilok but it is not seen in the HS VST menu even after asking it to look for excluded plugins

Have you included the path to where the VSTi's are installed in HS? 

SONAR needs to run as administrator to load old IK plug-ins.

Air Xpand installs to a custom location and you need to add this to your scan list in the Plug in manager.
I just installed Xpand to a new computer, It also wouldn't run until I updated the ILock software. I had used an old installer which installed and authorized everything but when I opened Sonar projects with any Xpand VST's they would pin the VU meter at max.

Thanks some useful suggestions there - I'll give them a try tomorrow. Hope this forum or a replacement survives the demise of Cakewalk. Everyone is so helpful it would be sad if we all dispersed

Well what might happen is we can form a user group somewhere. We could even just take over The Ford Truck forum :) 
 
But really there won't be much need for a forum because there will be 
1- no newbies asking for help
2- no new features to collectivly figure out
3- no one to complain about the new features to
4- no one to complain about the next update being late
5- no one to care if your version keeps crashing 
 
 

Progress update - IK replied re Miroslav and I can now run it in standalone mode without the authorisation screen coming up if I run as administrator - I've reset the root folder so it can find my instruments. I've tried running Sonar as admin and loaded a couple of project file which have a couple of instances of Miroslav in it but it just comes up with an instrument not found error. However when I load Miroslav into an empty project it appears to be working ok - any thoughts?
 
Re Air Xpand 2 - the .dll file is in my VST folder but Sonar doesn't appear to see it at all even if I rescan my plug ins :-(
 
Also not working is AlchemyCM which I like so I am hoping I have the installation file for that!

I now seem to be able to run all my IK SampleTank based VSTis (Sample Tron, Sonik Synth, Philharmonik & Sample Moog) in HS EXCEPT SampleTank itself! Any thoughts?
 
Sampletank runs fine in standalone and the .dll is in the same folder as the others
 
No luck with Air Xpand yet
