  • Why no limiter in X2 ?

Unless I'm missing something (a great possibility) there doesn't appear to be a limiter in X2. Well, there is something that looks like one, but it's looks so outdated I don't dare touch it. Since a limiter is about the only thing that can protect your ears and your speakers against all manner of problems (not to say bugs), you'd think that it would be high on the list of must-haves. X2 gives me all manner of fancy compressors, chorus's and the like, but no limiter ?

And the limiter that Cakewalk sells for the PC is like a third of the price I paid for my entire setup.  Does that make sense ?

Outdated?

Does it turn into a pumpkin when opened?

Does it smell like fish?

Some of the best reputed plugs are way old and available for free.

I get some of the best guitar sounds from the CW amp sim.

Don't let a lack of 'shiny 3-d plastic overlays' fool you.

It does seem strange that a ProChannel limiter is not included with Producer, given the effort they've otherwise made with the ProChannel into making it an all-inclusive mixing setup.

I think Boost11 works quite well and is reasonably transparent if you don't push it too hard.  If you want it in the Pro Channel you can add it as an FX Chain.

Boost 11 provides limiting. You should have that because it's included in all versions of X2.

Have you seen the thing ?  I swear it looks like a leftover from DOS days.  You're saying that it's a limiter on par with the other components of X2 ?  I won't cause me more problems than it's worth ?

What I'm looking for is the limiter that many people say I should stick on the master bus to prevent any sudden unexpected nastiness from getting through and hurting things.  In such cases I don't believe you want to be affecting normal content in any way.  Boost 11 looks more or less like a compressor to me (it doesn't seem to have any strickly limiting functionality) although the litterature on it mentions peak limiting.  How would I set it to get the equivalent of a brick wall protection circuit that won't adversely affect the normal content ?

Are you completely helpless to try the damn thing yourself Mr. Paul? It's just a plugin, not a shark, lion or bear. Drag it onto your track or bus, tweak as needed and enjoy. If you don't care for it delete it and move on.

No   However...  I'm a bit hesitant because of problems I've read about when trying to use ancient plugins in X2.  I found a video showing this limiter and one of the comments is that it doesn't even install in X1 if you don't specifically ask for it.  I think I have it because when I installed X1 before X2 I checked just about all the boxes since I had zero plugins beforehand.

I know I'm coming across as a bit of a complainer.  That's not my intent, it's just the way I talk...
