For me, as a Studio edition owner .. I feel it in a different perspective.
honestly, I feel the upgrade price is not on par, compared to the Producer edition. and the added value of X2 clearly is not the same, for the same price.
Upgrading from X1 studio, costs 100$, which is the same as Producer edition X1e (or 119 for X1) yet missing all those new features introduced in X2:
- no RMIX
- no producer's club
- no TH2
- no breverb
- no softube (nor anything new plugins)
- no rapture
- no console emu (could make sense in a version they call STUDIO)
+ everything that was bundled in X1 producer, obviously.
Also, Cakewalk does not recognize the loyality of studio users, who would be upgrading from the direct previous version (X1), . any studio edition owner will pay the same price for the upgrade.
And Cakewalk that raised the upgrade price from Studio edition to producer, in a fishy "upgrade now before we raise the price"... CW clearly sends the message that Studio edition owner are getting less value out of their software, and giving more to people that loves Dimension Pro and pro channels...
basically I paid 100$ for:
- new lasso selection modes, I get to right-click more.
- snap on/off key moved to where it belongs.
- auto snap/auto zoom
- new color sheme
- continued support (as X1 will not be supported I guess, X1 needed a few more updates...)
when you pay 50% of the price of a software for an upgrade, I "think" you can expect a little more.
Still X2 is a good piece of software, just like X1d is/was. only 59$ for X1 studio owners would have been the correct price IMHO.
So if you have Studio edition, I hope I've confused you enough lol !
Cheers !
