Another fail

Try and record ie volume automation with my BCF2000, and basically when finished and stopped, it shows the automation, but any points at where I performed no fader movement it jumps back to the value at which i started the recording level from (ie -50db), so you end up with a chopping up and down volume parameter. What is going wrong here. It seems automation recording is not a very easy experience

Can not be bothered to ask support, far too long and laborius going through the support emailing

This is a new feature called Automation Mode. You need to set the correct mode for the type of automation you want to record. In your case, you want the Overwrite mode or Latch mode. Make the track active by clicking its background, then press Ctrl+Shift+I to open the Track Properties in the Inspector. Then change the Automation Write Mode parameter.

Is that new in X2a, Scott or X2 in general?

Also... this is probably the type of "feature" they should leave at the setting which best mimics the original functionality. It would certainly reduce frustration and confusion.

It's new in X2.

Ok have thanks, got to the online manual and have now seen the info regarding this as well.

Sorry for the frustration, it was not looking good with a client here and also trying to figure out the new feature.

No problem. All of this (plus much more) will be covered in the upcoming SONAR X2 Power! book... http://www.garrigus.com/powerbooks.asp

Cool. That means it'll just end up getting absorbed with my current studies. Cheers, Scott.

Upcoming?? What are we going to do? I want my X2 Power NOW!

Actually I can wait about another month but thats all. Well maybe two months but that is absolutely as far as I can wait.  On the other hand, I will wait as long as it takes. But no longer!

Even with all the sometimes drastic changes to X2 I'm finding X1 Power is... well quite powerful. I use it in conjunction with other resources and get shiz done. Considering X2 is likely going to be the actual foundation for upcoming versions (I kind of get the impression X1 was a roll out/tester product for the new Sonar way) I'm going to assume once X2 Power is released it will be a solid resource for at least a few versions beyond X2.

Just very good and clear writing.

I do hope you took a look at my suggestion about expounding upon Export options though, Mr. Garrigus. So many different scenarios that can come up and that dialogue makes me feel like a derp.

Cheers.

Thanks John and Beepster! Oh, man... I wish it was finished already. It's been a ton of work, but worth it. Almost done...
