OK so I always pride myself on my computer never crashing while my friends who work in Logic are plagued with constant reboots.
Not really so, maybe 3 or 4 times a year my system completely locks up, just instantly freezes, accompanied by a terrible terrible noise. Only solution is a hard reboot. Here's an approximation of the noise, it's the exact same every time, maybe a little higher pitched but it's close (this is a dubstep bass patch):
http://www.koskenmaki.com/freeze.mp3 Anyway I guess I've never really been that concerned because in the past I think almost every time it happened I had been using Windows Media Player. So I figure it's a lame program and it's Media Player's fault so I just don't use it. But yesterday the same thing happened in SONAR so now I'm concerned.
Any thoughts on what causes this sort of thing? Some sort of conflict I should be looking for? Any ideas appreciated...
