Authentication servers are a non issue for lifetimers afaik?

Until you need to reinstall, either because of hardware upgrade or recovering from a disk failure. And possibly after a Windows 10 Feature release.

the issue is changing computers,
and moving the software.

Hey gang, if you go through the 'offline authorization' route, you can download an authorization file (actually about 7 files when you include plug-ins). The good news is that if you need to reinstall on the same machine using the same OS, you are fine. However, the authorization file is specific to the machine and OS. As for me, I'm staying on Windows 8.1 (for more reasons other than SONAR, mostly because of the way Win 10 snoopware operates). If I get a new machine, the file will not be any good.

Hope that helps

*this* is the issue...
And we can't test it out - until the Cakewalk servers go away (ie when it's too late) ;-)
It's really, so that we can open up older projects - a few years from now.

I'm still using an old copy of Adobe Audition 3, from before they went subscription. It required authorisation and of course those servers are long gone. I had problems when I had to re-install it - but I found a version that can be installed and doesn't require authorisation any more.

Hopefully the bakers will come up with something for us - for after the servers go away. (which may be a long time away)
