John
I'm seeing a lot of angst about the loss of further Sonar development. For the near future we can still use Sonar as is and nothing has changed for us end users in that regard. In the long run there are many alternatives we can go to if we wish. Right now I'm seeing a few offers that will ease the cost of moving on to another DAW. Keep an eye out for all possible offers and stay positive.

In the meantime this forum will stay up at least for awhile and as a community we can help each other get through this just as we have in the past with other changes.

I have been honored to be a member of this forum and one of the hosts. I intend to do my duty as a host for as long as this forum is up. When it does stop I will miss each and every one of you. I hope that we will meet again in another DAW's forum.

Keep in mind that as long as you have a working copy of Sonar Platinum you will be good to go using it. All your work can be transfered over to another DAW when it is time to do so. I may be of some help in helping with that.

Here is to all of you with my best wishes.

Thanks John, I signed up for the other forums but I will  stay here until the lights go out. I will also use Sonar until it is no longer possible, I will do everything I can to keep it going and share any tips with others to do so.

Hi John,

I can't speak for anyone else, but my only real concern is the ability to use what I bought, paid for and was promised until I choose not to use it of my own volition.

But I do understand where you're coming from. The longer Gibson keeps us all in the dark though as to their intentions, the worse it'll likely get.

Best,

Steve

I was shocked and upset, but the bottom line is it's about the music, and I can always learn another tool if I have to.

Those are my plans, too. I've been using Cakewalk and Sonar for a long, long time, but I only became directly involved in the forums a couple years ago. But in that time I've become very attached to this community and its broad and highly entertaining collection of personalities. :) I've also been offered all sorts of great help solving problems and coping with the challenges of making music in the digital age, and I want to offer back as much as I can in the time remaining, however long it is...

Hello John,

No the world has not ended but for some of us, I'm a Viet Nam Vet, so that tells you about how old I am. after almost 3 decades with Cakewalk, learning a new program is really not so easy for me.
Just a home studio but I do truly enjoy it.
AS mentioned above we have no idea what Gibson will do.
So, yes, I am a bit saddened. Like you, I think, I was at the other forums long ago. Where Dave Mod, Susan G. and Glennbo were for just a few. Long time Buddy.
The date on my user name is only accurate for THIS user name.

Anyway, Glad your sticking around. You have been a great help to many of us....Thanks.......

That is exactly the kind of view I expect from our members.

Steve I have to agree with you. They need to talk to us. CW has no control over anything now and hasn't for awhile now.

Hi John,

you know how I feel about you.
your A+ in my book and always have been. Im not sure I respect anyone else more on this forum than you.
You were one of the first to greet me here when I joined and you'll probably be the last to log off :-)

Im with you. Im going to continue to use Sonar until the doors fall off.
Though I am considering it, I'm not sure I have a use to buy another DAW right now.
Unless technology advances to the point Sonar can not/will not do something for me, I will use it for my projects.

I have come to accustomed to Region FX using Melodyne.
It saves resources in a way no other DAW can. Drum replacer and Vocal synch as well.
