Let me get this straight: Even though SONAR X2 Producer installed on Windows XP SP3, the 531 MB update that fixes dozens of problems DOESN'T install on Windows XP?

I'm a long-time SONAR user and supporter, but this is unacceptable! SONAR X2 Producer SUPPORTED Windows 7 and 8 (per Cakewalk's Website), but those operating systems weren't REQUIRED, or I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. Now I'm stuck!

So how do I get my money back on SONAR X2 Producer?

You have it correct. X2 on XP is a dead end. From the system requirements:

Windows 7 or Windows 8* (32 and 64-bit). XP and Vista are no longer officially supported. Future updates will not be compatible or install on XP and Vista as they are no longer officially supported.

Where did you see that posted? It's not on the page where you order the X2 Producer Upgrade. And I've NEVER seen an "update" to an application not support the same OS as the application--and I've been doing computer support for almost 20 years!

It has been the subject of a few threads too. Some of the Win8 libraries required for X2a do not run on XP.

I believe the x2a patch actually does run on vista.

Thanks for the link, but that's not stated on the page where you actually order the product. I followed a link from an e-mail to upgrade, and nowhere did I see anything like that.

don't you read system requirements b4 buying software for an obsolete operating system?

That is the case backwoods. When the system requirements were written up, it appears that CW was unsure about exactly how the Win8 stuff would play with Vista. At least that was the impression they gave in the threads about this subject.

That is correct paneteath, the upgrade page lists the system requirements as Win7 or 8. It does not even mention that it will run at all on XP. http://www.store.cakewalk...ductid=10-CXSP2.00-20E

Maybe they changed the upgrade page since early November, when I bought X2. I see that the Loopmasters pack mentioned on the page, and that wasn't available when I bought the upgrade; it was added shortly afterward, though.
