I'd rather get charged for the license as part of the cost of Sonar (and have that go up a few bucks) then get asked to upgrade every time I forget that Sonar doesn't offer this pretty basic feature stock.
If you're willing to pay extra for it, pay the twenty bucks and then you'll have it forever.
Better yet, use the $20 Sonar just gave all registered users and use it to pay for the MP3 encoder.
This should be an "out of the box" feature like in every other DAW.
Try and name me DAWs that you know for a fact don't have this feature other than Sonar. Maybe there are some, but I don't know of any.
Digital performer and reason are two , pro tools makes you buy it separately like sonar too. Ableton doesn't do mp3 export either. Reaper doesn't come with an encoder either and neither does tracktion- I can't be bothered checking other daws. I know nuendo and studio one include mp3
