Something know one mentions about lanes.  For example, when you have a few clips in vvocal, and you bounce them. We all know that the new clip is typically ove the original clip. You use to be able to click on "Layers" to separate them an move or delete the muted originals. Now when you click on lanes, they do not separate. The only way to get at the underneath clip is to grab an edge of the top clip, drag it ove, then highlight the muted clip and move or delete it. This is not a big deal to do once, but to do many times is tedious, plus you typicall do not get the slid ove section exeactly back where it was and can cause a pop that you need to readjust out. This makes for terrible work flow.

Hey Keni,

I am not getting the problem of empty lanes when loop recording, I was pre X2a but since, I've been loop recording plenty, and not one empty lane.

However, once I've comped and bounced my midi to a single track the lanes are left empty, I'm sure they could be removed in the process. That said its a 2 second job to remove them after.

Hello again, Keni. I'm still thinking you might be much happier doing your tracking and editing in X1 then opening the project in X2 for mixing. I personally like the Lanes far better than Layers but if I were in your position that's what I would do. X1 projects seem to open flawlessly in X2.

Just a thought. Cheers.

Have you been opening the track's lanes prior to recording? If I do this I don't get the extra tracks, but as the track icon does not change color when the track is empty, I find it hard to know that Lanes are "exposed"... I have to watch the area that displays the db scale as that disappears when lanes are open (they show on each lane)...

In X1, when it created the extra lanes, they were also in solo mode tho I don't think they forced actual solo to engage...

Thanks Beepster...

I have done this on occassion, but as I use some plugins that are "X2 only" in many new projects, it gets me nervous dealing with all the missing plugin messages... I do my best to freeze all tracks prior to this, but I can't seem to shake worrying that I'll do something wrong and lose something "important"...

I may stop using any of these plugins and stick to things that will open in either without complaining. I almost exclusivley use the PC plugins these days, so it won't be too hard... Have to give up Breverb and TH2 I believe are the only ones so it won't be too bad. I like Amplitube3 anyway.... and I still use the Lexicon Pantheon and the Perfect Space more often than Breverb for my familiarity when I need something "fast"...

Thanks for the thought...

Happy New Year! ;-)

TH2 Producer won't load in X1? hmm...

And it sounds like maybe you bounce back and forth between tracking and editing so I guess my suggestion isn't ideal. It's a lot easier to edit with X2s drag zoom ruler thingy too so that's a drag.

Hope you figure out a happy workflow. Cheers.

As someone who's prefered Lanes over Layers almost from day one in X2, I am completely on board with Keni's desire for more control over lane sizing.  I can work with it as-is, but I'd really like to see the minimum and maximum sizes expanded so that more lanes can be viewed at one time and so that a single lane be expanded to fit the TV.   Oh... and please move both Track and Automation Lane buttons on track strips so they're accessible from a minimized track.  Can't forget that one.

Max/min height is definitely a problem. Don't understand why it was made that way.

Me neither.   I like that I can resize one lane and they all change, but not each every and time.   I think we need a modifier key for that and independent lane sizing otherwise.

Yeah, that's another bother. They should have made that stuff work more like tracks. Must have been trying to get fancy or something. :-/
