I own Sonar X1 Studio. Until now, I recorded audio-tracks and - every time - applied plugins (VST) to the WHOLE track. Is it possible to define a part in one audio-track which shall be influenced by the plugin, and the other parts not? Or is there another way to get this function? It does not have to be realtime! Thanks windplayer

Yes use clip FX. You split the track into the section you want to add the FX to and right click on it to add the FX to just that small clip.

+1 on the above suggestion.

Another way to accomplish your task would be to leave the VST in the entire track and automate the appropriate parameter within the VST such as the bypass switch or the mix control.

Or else split the track into two (or more parts) and just put the plugin on one track.

Or create an envelope to enable (or bypass) the plugin at the right arts.

There are a few options

When you split a track into 2 or more parts you are in fact making 2 or more clips in the one track.

Clips are audio segments that can be as small as a sample or as big as a whole track. A track can comprise as many clips as you like. Each clip has its own fx bin into which you can insert its own fx.

Yep, clip fx is probably easiest or you can use an automation envelope. It's very easy to automate selected sections of tracks. Check out this video...
