Hello y'all.  I downloaded some updated drivers from AMD for my videocard and things went haywire.  My video was egg shaped (icons, etc) and my songs started skipping like a scratched record.  I fixed the video by completely removing the video card, removing updated drivers and installing the old drivers.  The audio, which I thought I had fixed, is still "skipping" on mp3, Cakewalk projects and YouTube.  Rather than skipping I should say it sounds more like a "scratched vinyl record".  You remember those, right?  LOL
 
I downloaded all the drivers, etc for my Line6 interface and it's still happening.  Any ideas?  Here's my equip: 
Sonar X1 Essentials 
Windows7 64 bit
Line6 UX2 (interface)
Pentium4 Dual Core E5800,3.2ghz
4GB RAM
6gb Hard Drive ? Something like that.

Here's a couple ideas:
- If you're experiencing pops and cracks, it could be your ASIO buffers are set too low - increase them and see if it changes. 
- You can also run DPC latency checker to determine if a certain driver is introducing latency into your system.
- If you've only changed your video drivers and nothing else has changed - is it possible this project has latency-inducing plugins running?  Some plugins introduce lots of latency and would necessitate higher ASIO buffer settings.  You can bypass all FX in the project and see if that isolates the issue.
- Is virus scanning / firewall running?  Do you have a wireless networking card?  Those can have an impact on audio playback performance. 
- I have seen others post issues here about video card drivers interfering with audio - so experimenting with different video card drivers may help if all else fails. 
- Ensure your audio interface driver is updated,

I've played with bufffer size, etc and there is no change.  I might have done it wrong, I don't know.  One thing I can add now is that after  the music quits before the mp3, etc stops,  the "scratch" still goes on, in the beat of the song.  Wierd?

Does your AMD card have a discrete audio output or audio output through HDMI? Or do you have onboard audio on your motherboard? Since you're having problems outside of Sonar too, it might be a good idea to check device manager for other audio devices. If there is another audio device listed, you could temporarily disable it to see if it helps. Updating your video driver may have messed up other device settings.

Sorry to hear of your woes!  When you removed the video card did you put the old one back in?  How did you uninstall the driver?
 
If you don't have/use Acronis True image, I highly recommend it.  It's save my rear many times and usually does a backup restore in under 15min.  Anyway hopefully someone else will chime in with some ideas.

Ok, maybe I'm not understanding your issue - have you imported an MP3 into Sonar and are playing back? 
 
Regarding changing buffer settings - Go into your audio card's software, increase buffers, then open sonar - double check under edit->preferences that Sonar has the same increased ASIO buffer settings as your audio card software.   What are they currently set at?
 
If your buffers are too low, you'll hear the pops and clicks during playback or recording regardless of whether or not there's any underyling music. 
 
Sounds like it could be a latency issue or ASIO buffers.  Check what your buffers are set at - try something around 1024 or even 2048 during playback just to see if the issue goes away.  Also try running DPC latency checker - that will highlight if a sofware driver is causing latency.
