The other day I was cleaning out some very old boxes I found stuffed away in one of our closets.  In it I found the lyrics and chords for a song on a torn and yellowing sheet.  That is how old it was.  Back in my undergraduate days (a time long ago but not so far away) I was in a couple of bands until my grades demanded that I spend some time studying.  I believe that this was the second song that I ever attempted.  Anyway, I had the lyrics, chords, and I kind of remembered the melody --- so, I thought why not give it a try.

It has sort of a psychedelic sound which was not unusual for the mid to late 1960's.  It is also a bit long but that also was a bit of a trend for that period.  As the comments on my SoundClick page state --- this song is not about drugs but about developing your own mental state that allows you to deal with the adversities and challenges of life naturally.  As the bottle icon/picture suggest, music is one good way to help.

I wrote this number for one of the bands that I was with.  Unfortunately, I got kicked out of the band before we started work on it.  If you listen to it you might understand why I got kicked out of the band   ;>)

Comments would be very much appreciated and thanks for listening.

Cool story Freddy, good for you for putting this together. There's a lot going on in the mix (maybe too much at times) but the melody is great.

Interesting piece, Freddy.
Compelling, yet evasive. I can't quite wrap my head around it, but I keep listening to it again.
You might try going for a more cohesive, defined mix, but I'm not entirely sure that wouldn't destroy the vibe.
This thing's got a bunch of stuff going on, balanced on the head of a pin.
Seems appropriate, actually, considering your concept.
Very cool, and oddly addictive.

Cool to find your  own song work, made a long time ago and record it now.  A kind of time travelling back  to the old days. Sounds nice.

Good job on this Freddy. I like the lead parts.  Like the lyrics.

Nicely trippy for that authentic late 60's feel.

The delay/reverb on the vox works nicely IMO, and I like the layers of instruments, particularly the volume pedal guitar fills.  Also liked the brief "swing" sections thrown in.

Freddy - this is great - I could hear Jefferson Airplane a bit on this. You nailed the 60's sound. Great playing - definitely a great Freddy song.

Very Doors'ish. The vocals are nice though not Doors'ish.

I like it. Well done!

Hi James.  There is a lot going on instrumentally in this song.  The two rhythm guitars might be competing with each other and both might be competing with the bass.  I am not sure?  I appreciate your listening and thanks for the comments.

Hey RobertB.  I get what you mean and maybe the response to James might define it.  A lot of the psychedelic music used to confuse me back in the day.  Hopefully, all the variables aren't competing too much.  Thanks very much for your comments.

Hi Makke. I had actually forgotten about this number as it was done along time ago.  Due to the necessity of earning a living and 50-60 hour work weeks, I put music aside until retirement.  It was kind of fun trying to remember how this number was supposed to sound.  Thanks for listening and commenting.

Hi Jimmy.  Thank for the kind comments.

Thank you Steve.  I was hoping that I got close to that '60 sound.  I appreciate the kind words.

Hello Mark.  Thanks buddy.  Its a bit out of my style/comfort zone but I try and go somewhere different every once and a while.  Thanks again.

Hey Robert.  Thanks for listening and commenting.  I appreciate the comparison to the Doors style but Jim Morrison's vocal stylings were indeed unique which I wouldn't attempt to mimic.
