Some time back I followed the appallingly complex way to get the AD2 drum maps right and it worked. Then it stopped working; I do not know why. I can now only get what everything has; General MIDI etc percussive and Diatonic etc melodic.

I tried going through the process as far as deleting AD2 Standard Map and AD2 Track.cwx, and then replacing them with the ones originally extracted. But opening a new file based on AD2 Project template still leaves me without the AD2 drum map.

The AD2 drum map is assigned to DM1 in the Drum Map Manager. The drum names are all there and the Port/channel is 1-1-Addictive Drums 2 1/1.

Thanks for any help.

Hello,
in relation to this question I have just updated to Sonar Platinum and I want to add a drum map for Addictive Drums 2 in the Piano Roll view. I don't know how to do this as I have never used drum maps before. I would be grateful to know how I add the Drum Map for Addictive Drums 2 to the Piano Roll View in Sonar Platinum.

Thank you.

As I said, it worked for me, but now I can't get it to work again. know how you go.

Mine comes up with two and the checked one is the one that works.

Ah. That is when you select the output right?

That was it. I am not sure why the wrong one is the default. Anyway, thanks for that.

Yeah, it's the output of your midi track. I'm not sure why the default is that other one either. It has left me scratching my head in the past. Glad to help though.

I noticed that when you use the AD2 Project Template to create a new project you have to change the output to the correct drum map.

But if you already have a project open instead, and use "Insert > Track Template > Soft Synth Track Templates > AD2 > AD2 Track.cwx, it outputs to the correct map automagically!!!

Thank you for that information. It is most helpful. I followed those instructions substituting Sonar X3 for the relevant Sonar Platinum folders. Its now approaching midnight so I am not going to open up Sonar now but I am going to get stuck in tomorrow afternoon.

Also thanks for RSMCGuitar for his input.

I will say this about Sonar. Its a very powerful flexible program but you can lost in options within it. I was wondering why I had to double click to enter a note in the PRV with the Smart Tool or else use alt and click or use the draw note to enter a single note. It turns out you can enter a note in the PRV with a solitary mouse click but you have to flick your cursor up a little as you do it. Thats very unintuitive and I would have never have guessed that until I read it online. Also the grid resolution in the PRV is a nightmare to set up. I was trying to set the grid resolution to eight notes but it kept remaining at whole notes. Eventually I got it by constantly messing around with the Global Snap but it was totally unintuitive. This is the reason I get frustrated with Sonar sometimes. It has tremendous power but sometimes even doing simple things like setting a grid resolution is a pain in the butt! Rant over!

You don't drag up to enter a note... you drag to the right.
