now I got to read up on using drum pane, and what advantage it may have over regular PRV.

The major benefit in my opinion is note lengths. In the PRV note lengths can be pretty much anything and kinda arbitrary, when working with drums. In the drum pane they are all the same length because they are just drum hits.

That is the default but there is an option in the PRV Notes menu to "Show Note Durations in Drum Grid."

K, i see what you mean, except if you show velocity tails,  I'll check that out when I get a chance to try working with it, would I assume it has all the same functionality as PRV notes, like selecting/cut/copy/pasting/moving, etc.
Well, I just went back to try and not getting any sound again, I guess that why's it called the drum "pain" LOL, guess I changed something.

Just curious, what would the use case be for that?

If you wanted control of the length of a percussion sound. By default a drum machine doesn't do this, but a sampler would. Or if you are using synths to make a percussion sound. With a cymbal you choke it with another note, but you could just set a note duration. With an open hi hat, you foot close, or hit again, but with note duration you'd set its length. Small changes in note length on a hi hat can make staright note sound more realistic.

Drum maps are not just for drums and percussion. They may be used anytime a translation table is needed between the MIDI input and the target(s) for the MIDI data. For example, a map could be used to split a keyboard and drive multiple synths.

I never use the drum View, I am much more comfortable using PRV, which I wished would name the keys, so I could have the best of both words. I do use step sequencer though, and everytime I kick myself for not sorting out the drum map for AD2.

Just did it, it looks cool, very handy. Also deleted the 4,257,133 other drum maps I don't need to see. Just kept Session drummers in case I ever install it.

Being AD has been bundled for so long long, I don't know why it isn't part of the CCC install!?!

The same happened for me, the drum map assigned the port out to my Quad, not Ad2. Should it not be doing this as part of the map?

From Drum Map Manager
Change the Output Port for all rows with the same Channel/Port
Press CTRL+SHIFT while changing the port

Or at least create a batch or small exe file that is bundled with the zip file that you have to download.

I guess we have the same point of view, So when you say you "just did it",  do you mean defining AD2 as an instrument and manually entering all the kit piece note names as per AD2 piano key midi note/number assignments?
as per,

(or "just did it", meaning something else, LOL)
