That a notation program supports Rewire but does not transmit MIDI over it, is one of those baffling software design mysteries that is very hard to comprehend. I can't imagine that configuring Rewire for MIDI is any harder than configuring it for audio, and transmitting MIDI is quite obviously the whole point of making a notation program Rewire compatible. I really despair of some software designers and their inability to understand how people are using their programs.

Well so far i have Sibelius 7 loading into Sonar thru rewire,  but i can not get it to sync properly.  I don't have a lot of time to mess with this tonight,  but I'll keep trying it during down times.

Ditto here.  It appears as a rewire instrument but won't sync.

Hey Vintagevibe,  just a FYI... I can get Notion 4 to load and sync,  but I am not familar with Notion4.  I am good with Sibelius so i was hoping it would be more functionable in Sonar.  So far Notion4 works,  but what good is getting the audio and not the midi into Sonar??

I have no need to get audio into Sonar either.  What I do is export as a MIDI Music XML file and import that into Sonar.  It works just as well but is more work.

Another thing to remember is that you can import an audio file of your DAW mix via QuickTime into Sibelius and score to that.  I think Notion 4 does  that as well but I havn't checked it out.   I would be happy if they just sent MIDI over Rewire but I'd be REALLY happy if Sonar had usable notation.

Back during the Emagic days, one of the coolest things I enjoyed about Logic's notation editor was that if you had a chord, and you move one of the chord tones up or down the staff, Logic would replay the entire chord as opposed to just the note you were adjusting.

Cakewalk finally did make an improvement to the staff view:

1.  With screensets the staff view now can have the staves you want to be working with, and you can leave the staff view and come back to it and the same staves are there.  This is could not be done with layouts.   With layouts if you click on an empty space in staff view, you deselect everything, so when you exit the staff and come back to it, you have to pick tracks again.  This could be a time saver.

Some new bugs that cropped up in X1 are repaired:

1.  The staff view track pane now selects the active track, as it did in all previous versions that had it.
2.  X1 introduced a graphics bug where the background of the staff view track pane didn't refresh properly.  That has been repaired in X2a.

But something else was changed for the worse, and I have no idea why:

In all other versions in staff view, selecting a group of notes and right clicking on the mouse brought up the process menu.  Very fast. Now in order to do exact same thing, you have to press CTRL with right-click.  Why in the world would that change?  I see no benefit at all, just an extra keystroke for no gain...

To give both hands something to do? Don't want a blood clot and all.

It is heartening to know that some attention is being given to SV, but it appears to be a step forward, then a step back type of thing.

I hope that we see some sort of hotfix or X2b perhaps just after Winter NAMM which addresses the <ctl> right-click issue in SV, along with any other SV bone the Bakers may see fit to throw us, not to mention what appears to be inconsistent Sonar X2 graphical and audio behavior folks are reporting on the forum.

I would like to feel compelled to to upgrade to X2, because there are a lot of other nice features present.
