I have a question for experienced Automap users. I have been reinstalling my system, upgrading to Windows 8 and all, but I've run into trouble With Automap. For some reason it didn't seem to find Sonar, however, it worked when I set it up in Sonar from memory. However, a little later it didn't seem to work anymore when I attempted to control the mixer. So I uninstalled, reinstalled a couple times and it was a little shady. I ended up uninstalling it and cleaning up the registry in an attempt to get rid of all automap traces and start from scratch. However, I seem to have deleted something important in Sonar regarding the Automap functionality. So I uninstalled and re-installed X2a and I can set it up in MIDI preferences as a control surface but it doesn't control anything. I had a look in the Shared Surfaces folder and there's nothing in there called Novation or Automap.
 
And Sonar still doesn't show up in the Automap server settings window.  
 
Any ideas of what I have done wrong? Or more importantly, what can I do to fix this?

Good point John - and a happy new year to you!

I do use that little Nocturne with ACT to controll the Pro Channel among other things. However, the Mixer integration through Automap is quite nice, much nicer than with ACT mostly, as it controll Send levels as well.

So to put it simple - I'd like to keep doing that

Do you happen to know why it started messing up in the first place? and better yet - what may I have done to screw things up so badly with this install?

Why not set it up under ACT? 

depends on what automap unit it is.. and well rewriting a template for my SL MK2 (from here) messed it up for other programs (cubase / reason) and since then it's not 100% as I bought it from the shop , even with a factory reset.

so stick with the automapped versions.. they put out 4.6 yesterday of it

there is 2 things you need to set up , the keyboard portion and the control potion.. automap itself has a guide built in to do it..
