Like most of your mixes it sounds fine here, perhaps a little louder on the vocal but that is probably a subjective pers-p-e-ctive.

I've only listened to this one about 1000 times.  The minute it started playing I pictured the top of lookout mountain.  This tune pushed the pedal when I needed it.  That whole CD is insane!

Loving this Bats..excellent moody intro, and that bassline is killer, good touch to have a guitar riff back it up later. Builds nicely, without fuss, cool dynamics too with that dreamy breakdown. Thumbs up from me sir!

Are those live recorded drums? If so...great job on them. It all sounds good....but the drums really stood out to me.

you know, i'm kinda on the fence about the re-mix, as far as the vocal levels go.....
i think they are plenty loud enough.....
the idea i have, is to draw the listener in more personally, and not have the vocal sitting on top like it's a big cherry on top of the ice cream that you can't eat around.
LOL
i mean, it's a common thing i hear, about wanting the vox hotter, but then a lot of the pop and rock songs that bug me the most, are the ones that have the vox so hot that the music becomes secondary to serving the vocal, which to me, is not rock and roll.
i'll definitly focus on the vox more, and probably have a few sections that stand out, but riding that vox level pretty aggressively towards 'the least amount that serves the song'
thanks for listening and commenting wookie

thanks for listening, choinga....
like i mentioned to wookie, i think the vox are fine....
maybe you could give me a link to a song where you think the vocal levels are just perfect,
then i'd have a measure of something tangible to work with....

glad you dig it man, thanks.
the drums, au natural, are by Brent Dacus,
out of the dallas ft worth area.
he's good.

thanks jamesg, if i had to put into words what i was trying to go for with the arrangment on this one, it'd be almost word for word what you said....
that bassline, it was a bit tricky at first, because i naturally play back beat, but this song really needed a mid or front beat riff to push the song.....
when i got the drum parts back from brent, i made the decision to play just in front of his beat, which was already forward moving,
and i had to figure out how to make the bass line swing, while at the same time keep up the velocity....
i had several sessions to go thru, before i found the pocket i wanted, and then it just worked!
thanks again....

yes, performed by brent dacus, i sent him (and his engineer) my demos that were done with drum machine...
he found the perfect pocket on ALL the tunes, by being able to play a groove that could either be back beat, swing, or driving, just based on what he felt i was going for.....

when i got his finished drum tracks (12-15 individual tracks) i started recording from scratch, and just played to his groove....
it turned out really well, his reading of my demos were just spot on!

thanks for listening
