There is no way they would give away the code and relevant patents so it could become open source. That would be nuts! I assume Microsoft has already bought it anyway.

Bad idea, I'm crossing my fingers that Gibson will have to sell it as an assett to pay off debits. That at least has the best chance to see a version of Sonar in the future. Who and what is going to do anything with the code in such a way as to appeal to people like me? I find that option the worst.

No offense to anyone, but you're grasping at straws. It is over. Over with a capital O. Already sonar lost probably 50% of its user base. You'll see a mass migration in the next week. Within a few weeks there won't be enough user-base for anybody to justify any development work on it at all

Microsoft can make most of the code open. Like they have in other cases. So this can be on the petition to. Sign it an make a change. https://www.ipetitions.co...ewalk-and-sonar-out-of

I did buy Studio One now. And then i realized how great Sonar really is. Yeah i migrated. But that doesnt mean that I wont use Cakewalk or Sonar. If Microsoft rescue Cakewalk and Sonar they will get the user base back. I will. You will.

50% of Sonar users don't even know that Sonar is no longer going to be supported.  The idea that 50% of users have already left is laughable.  I bet less than 5% have left so far because of the news.  That will pickup as word spreads, but your notion is a far cry from reality.

+1 Brian. Most of us are not in a hurry to spend good money. Sonar works, will work for a long time. But there's always been this group who are more interested in NEW toys than actually using the software.
I skipped X1 and X2 because of the bad press they got here on the forum. I was always amazed at the ones who would be just a chomping at the bit for another paid for update?? They gave us lifetime updates and those people where probably heartbroken,,"now what am I going to do?" it's free! , Oh great, now I have a reason to spend $200 on another DAW, YAHOO.
No. I like to get my moneys worth out of my stuff. Sonar is not broken and I actually look forward to a few years of peace and quiet and uninstalling CCC.
