First off I love sonar and would have never imagined going to a different DAW. I use Sonar daily!
With that being said. I DO NOT want to end up stuck learning another DAW while I am in creative mode
So Today I downloaded the Studio one Demo to see what its all about
Should I try a different DAW instead? Id hate to waste my time BUT it seems like a great DAW and I almost went with them before I got the lifetime updates
Ps. I barely use midi "Except for addictive drums" and mainly record rock/metal < Not sure if that helps
and I'm not planning to stop using Sonar I just dont want to learn something new if it breaks

Big sale on S1 right now - see the thread in the Deals Forum. http://forum.cakewalk.com/Studio-One-Professional-Upgrade-Half-Price-m3686773.aspx
and if you wait a bit, maybe a better deal - http://forum.cakewalk.com/Coming-Next-Week-from-Presonus-m3690233.aspx
I just bought it myself. For the price I figured I would see how it grows on me (not so well so far, but time will tell). There are a lot of SONAR users and former users who have gone or are in the process of moving to Studio One - I think spending some time would make sense under the circumstances.

Thank you very much but it took me a year to switch from acid pro to sonar lol Mixcraft seems good too. I think so far I am deciding between those 2. Any thoughts on mixcraft? They have a 2 week demo and seems izotope is intergrated in there mastering suite

First up playing with studio one then mixcraft

Anyone want to chime in please feel free

I checked Studio One and have sorted it out.
In my case its a NoGo that you cann't apply effects from the effect bin (insert effects) to selected audioclips. And you cann't sent audio to an external waveeditor like iZotope RX.
So my next check is Cubase with the perfect integration of WaveLab. But at the moment there is no trial for the very new version 9.5
Until I have found a perfect DAW I will download a crack for SONAR - if the servers for authorization are down.

Of course you can, look again

Users have simple workarounds for this (As a SONAR user you would be use to workarounds  ) Some just use a simple script. Go to the forums, seek and ye shall find.

I know you can apply an effect to a clip in Studio One. I have read the forum.
But imagine you have 50 hours of digitized tape and you want to apply an equalizer with little different settings to all 1234 clips. In SONAR you can apply the insert effect to 40 clips at one time - make a little change and apply to the next 35 clips.
In Studio One each clip must have its own equalizer - 1234 clips = 1234 equalizer. You cannot apply one setting to 40 selected clips.
We don't do this 3 times a week - we need this 1234 times a day, 365 days per year. The problem is the workflow and the time. In In our case that are unripe solutions that take a lot of time.

Studio One is not suitable for digitizing thousends tapes and vinyl. Therefore we check cubase with the perfect integration of wavelab.

I've checked out the Studio One and Reaper demos.

I'm going with Reaper. Fortunately, I can afford Studio One or the other alternatives, but Reaper looks very powerful, albeit with a steepish learning curve.

No affiliation, btw. Never used anything but SONAR or Cakewalk since the '80's.

To me it seems recording on sonar then mixing and mastering in studio one would be great! Other then that the work flow is very odd to me. I use sonar to much lol
