Hi Charles,
To find out if there is a market for something, go to Google Keyword Tool. (Type into a search "Google Keyword Tool" and it will come up).
Although it is designed for people who advertise with Google Adwords, they let anyone use the external tool to see if there's a market for their product.
I just put in the phrase "music recording software", but you will know better what specific phrases to use.
This is the result I got:
Right click > view image to see full size.
You can also click any one of the phrases listed to get a narrowed down list of more specific keyword phrases. This is what people are typing into Google and how people discover what keywords to advertise on.
It is also handy to know what to name your video titles, tags and web pages, as it helps with search engine optimization (SEO).
If you are offering a paid product you might want to ignore all the people wanting free info and using the word "free". But then again, as Jerry says above, most marketers provide free content in order to rope people in to a paid offer, just like trial versions of software. So you could have a small series of free videos, and have a link to your paid offer in the video description.
I would say Go for it too, and promote your videos everywhere you can: on here - in your sig, and Facebook and Twitter, to get a fan-base going.
Good Luck!
