Garrigus, thanks. Your videos are very good, but I only saw a bit. Is there a way to make them full screen please?
Hi CoffeeTime,

Those online videos are already full size. They don't get any larger. What about them are you not able to see? They are produced in such a way as to zoom in on the appropriate parts of the screen when necessary, so you should be able to see all the actions being described.

Best,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Oh yes I see you have zoomed in later on. Sorry, I just saw the beginning and thought it was like that all the way through.

Thanks a lot.  I have bookmarked this page too.

it came today! and I registered and got a reg number and everything.

But when I went to the upgrade page I got this message:

I was expecting it to have a box where you put your serial number or reg number in. But it didn't, so it seems the upgrade is reliant on support's input.

I only have 2 days to upgrade. As I tried to upgrade before the Dec 31, do you think they will backdate the offer if support does not get back to me in time?

thanks

ps: hope you all had an amazing christmas btw!!

It takes time for the free upgrade to process. Since you registered before the year end you will get the free upgrade. You do not have to do anything other than register your X1. The free upgrade will appear in your store account.

I didn't mention that my friend installed a 30 day trial of Sonar producer 8.5 a year ago. I could never get it to work at all, so I never used it.

Before installing the new X1 Essential version yesterday, I deleted all the existing Cakewalk files - or so I thought.

I have Windows 7 64 bit.
I deleted the folders from My Documents and from Program Files(86)
But now I see that there are lots of Cakewalk files and folders in C/Cakewalk Content and C/Cakewalk Projects.

I have Cakewalk open although no MIDI device connected, and have only just noticed that as well as folders originally being in "Program Files (86)" there are also folders in "Program Files" dated 2011.

I tried to delete the whole Cakewalk folder from Program Files but it won't allow me to, saying a program is using them.

I can only think that this must mean the newly installed Sonar X1 is attempting to use the old files.

Does this mean I should put all the old files and folders back where they were?

(I backed up all the old files and folders on an external hard drive as there were lots of cool instrument wav files in them.)

And will it be bad if I delete the old Cakewalk folder from "Program Files" while Sonar is not in use? (they are all dated 2011, so I am certain they are the old files).

thanks a lot

All versions of SONAR share files and leaving a prior version installed does not affect the current version. As with many applications, the uninstall process does not completely remove all evidence of a SONAR installation. The "Cakewalk Projects" directory is where the songs you create are stored, the uninstall process will never remove that. "Cakewalk Content" contains version specific and nonspecific data so parts of it may be left too.

As far as finding files in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk", Cakewalk can install files in both locations depending on what you choose to install. Full installations of 64bit versions of SONAR will use both locations. Some of those files are shared by versions of SONAR. You do not say what date you are reading on the files. X1 will show files with modified dates back through at least 2009.

At this time you might just leave the bits of 8.5 alone, they won't hurt anything. They are not taking up much space.

It might be a good idea to add your PC hardware and the version of SONAR you are running in your .sig. Many forum users find it useful when trying to help you.
