  • Will X2 work well enough on this laptop?

I'm not doing this professionally (Home studio)
Asus 14" hi def. notebook/laptop Win 7,
Intel duo core T6600,  500GB HD,
4 GB mem,
video= nvidea Geforce G102M I'd be using a BR800 for the sound and interface.

We have a 2 yr old 14" laptop that I can plug in my larger monitor for dual monitor.
Until now I have used X1 on my PC with XP as per my signature. It's pretty stable.
I'm hoping to get X2 but not wanting to make the switch until I get a more powerful machine with Win 7 min.

My wife has been using the laptop for email and general browsing which is obviously under utilized. (I bought the better processor to run my processor hungry architectural design program while on holidays)
My idea is to abandon the PC & use the laptop and get her a tablet for a total outlay of about $250.
The fall back position is to get a New PC and she can keep the laptop but it is quite a bit more clumsy than a tablet and not as convenient for our occasional travelling.

Thanks for ideas.

System requirements are at the bottom of the page....

You can also install the X2 trial on the laptop and find out.
Min requirement is Win7!

Cheers...

That would appear to be sufficient for light projects.

+1 on trying the demo.  It is free.

Thanks Alex.
It looks as if it will work but on the edge.
How do you like your Shure SM7B?

put it this way, I ran sonar x1 on a netbook for awhile and limped along, you will be fine!

Thanks Shawn, "Limped" doesn't sound great.
Maybe I'll stick with X1 on the laptop until I get a new PC

Thanks guys. I guess I was reluctant to do the install because I had problems with the original (all those updates) and wanted to know for sure before (maybe) getting into a mess.
I'm going for it today on X1 and if it all works, I'll upgrade.
The CPU is decent and better than my XP, but doing the comparison, it doesn't quite make it to the minimums recommended for X2

I'm running x2 on an Acer Aspire 5610z... slower cpu and 32 bit than yours. You will be fine. Using Z3ta is my big draw back. Everything else is fine. Freeze synth tracks often and you should stay just fine.
