I need to move entire song sections around and need help on how to do it best.
 
When I try to select everything (CTRL-A), I can't select buses and bus automation. Moving a section becomes a chore.
 
Any ideas?
 
I think it's finally time for buses to be treated as regular tracks! :D

Why do you need to move a bus? I thought you wanted to move clips? 

Automation in the track stays with the clip that I move.... as far as moving a clip from one track to another.... I believe the track's bus assignment stays the same so you would have to change the bus assignment if you move a clip from track one to ...say track two. 

maybe I'm not understanding what you want to do properly.

I'm not sure I follow. What exactly are you trying to do?

Ah, sorry for not being entirely clear. :) Let me rephrase:

I just want to move, say, bars 10-30 to the end of the song and get everything moved: clips, automation as well as any automation in buses.

You can do CTRL-A and drag select the bars in the timeline, cut and then paste. But the bus automation will not follow...
 
Bus automation has been made a bit easier to copy and paste recently, but trying to copy and paste a full song section in one go is still not possible. I regularly move entire choruses or verses around with lots of autmation, so this is a bit cumbersome.
 
I vote for removing the bus pane, and demoting buses to "regular" tracks! ;D

hmm... after you do your control A can you not the do a control select to snag the bus automation so they group with the rest of the clips? Never tried it myself but seems that might work.

Or if you are trying to snag EVERYTHING maybe instead of Control A you could use the multi select features in the Track Pane instead of copying in the Track View.
