  • Delete VST plugs from the Plug-in manager registry (p.2)

I just uninstalled a program and was amazed at the files and folders that were left behind (in program folders and in the registry).  I thought, up to this time, that uninstall eliminated everything.

This may not be what is going on in your situation (I am no expert), but there may be a random file or folder somewhere that is setting off the plugin manager.

I put a Ticket in with Cake. I post the solution and rename the post to [solved]here when I have one. Thanks for all of the input.

There is a registry branch called "Inventory" under the VST branch.  It contains all the items that were scanned.  You can delete the branch (do backups!) or just delete items in it.

I don't recommend doing this if you're not a serious computer hacker type ;)

But it's a lot simpler than the plugin manager.

However, IF there are other issues (left over DLLs as example, or bad installs, or corrupt registry entries) you'll just be adding misery as opposed to cleaning up.

Doing a complete VST Reset is often the better approach after you clea up any subsidiary issues.

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm not the hacker type. I tried to reset the registry in the plug-in manager. Cake will fix me up soon.

I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to thank ba-midi. I had this exact same problem and your solution worked for me.
