• SONAR
  • Markers Window Floats Over Track View - Feature or Not??

I like the Markers Window (View>Markers or Alt+Shift+4) to be visible all the time.  I have found that if I dock the Markers Window in the MultiDock and then drag it out, it floats in front of the other Sonar windows.  I put it in a corner of the track view window and it stays floating in front of the track view even if I click on the track view window or a track, or whatever.

I like this behavior but I don't know if it's a feature or a bug.  It works with other window too - for example the Staff View.

Anyone else us this technique?

I think the answer is in the "floating" part. If you just open a window it may or may not be in float mode. By going to the top left and opening that menu floating should be checked.

Well, I'll be dipped!  I've never paid attention to the menu in the upper left of the window.  Sure enough there is an option for floating and it is checked (automagically) when you drag the window out of the multidock.

Thanks for the info!

Wait till you learn about the secret handshake. I'm not at liberty to tell you about it yet.

Not to rub it in but this has been there since Pro Audio.

There's a secret handshake too?

I checked SHS7 and PA9 on my system.  You are right - SHS7 has it and PA9 doesn't.

When I got PA9 eons ago it came with a real manual and I've read it multiple times.  With SHS7 and X1 I have just been going along doing what I've always done and from time to time learn something new.  I'm thinking I should get a Garrigus book on Sonar X1 and actually learn a whole lot of new things.  Maybe I'll find the secret handshake in his book!

Thanks again,
Larry
