This is a first outing for the track. I still need to tweak it some but would love to hear any opinions on how to make it better.

Guitars used: Ibanez RG and Les Paul custom for the distorted guitars. Les Paul Custom and 1964 Custom Byrdland for the clean. The lead is my Ibanez. The bass is a P bass with a  Jazz neck and pups for P and J style. The drums are Addictive Drums 2. I am also singing or whatever it is I do.

Comments, good and bad, are welcome.
Enjoy!

I finished a remix just now. You can listen to the new version of Lochness. I ended up omitting the Byrdland guitar as it's electronics has a problem. There was this static I could not get rid of. So I rerecorded that part and thinned out the amount of guitars I was using. I also tweaked the drums quite a bit and added a conga part at the end. I think I've got a better mix here.

The weird part is I can't upload, via IE, to Soundcloud. Luckily, Mixbus will upload for me. I don't know what that's about as it says I need the latest browser and that's what I'm using.

Robert,

Your vocal ability is improving.

Personal taste, the harmony break guitars seem a bit too wide.

Your vocal style/sound is very similar to mine without the lethal element (I jest)

I quite liked and enjoyed the tune the mix is quite well balanced though as noted by Ed the lead is wide.  Also so for me the tom runs sounds slightly out a bit like they are from a different kit???

Thanks for sharing.

The song is very dark lyrically and the vocal needs more edge and rawness if you want the listener to believe what you are singing about.

Thanks for listening everyone!

I'll check out the clean guitars. I'm trying to decide what to do with them. I recorded both parts for each side with each guitar. I think I'll save a few other versions and experiment. I appreciate the feedback. I never thought that about the toms though. I do use different parts of different kits for my kit, all the toms are the same, using AD2. Maybe I rolled off to much low end?

Thanks again for listening!

Cool stuff Robert.  Very unique vocal styling and well executed.  I agree that the toms do seem a little out of place but really good work in Addictive Drums and it isn't a showstopper for me.  Nice work.

Thanks Tony. I was looking at my preset that I use in AD2 and realized that I had mismatched toms, for some reason. I've since fixed that but haven't had time to get back to it yet.

Thanks again!

Robert,

Cool song.   I like how it starts out harder and mellows at the end.   Some of the drum fills sound a little funky (mechanical) not bad, but slightly robotic.   Just picked up EZDrummer2 and am very impressed with their canned MIDI loops.

Nice work

Regards

Same as what others have said:  drums need some work (mainly the fills) but a pretty cool track otherwise.  I agree that you should treat your voice or sing even more growly (if that is a word) to really sell it.  I know the guys in Mastadon often have one dude singing the growly stuff then another singing over him for a cool layered effect....
