It's getting like malware.   No control of what gets installed.  It's nice that they give you free stuff but there is a price.
When I see T-RackS Classic Compressor in my user area it's that and a lot more.

It's like clicking on the freeware and all of a sudden you get what you didn't want and having Adaware remove them.

I had to remove 28 demo dlls from my plugin folders and careful not to delete my licensed ones.

Guess I'll have to respectfully non-concur, it's all worth it to me. My music mixing is better now with IK Multimedia.

But I understand what you are saying and it is a deal to some.

But for me, life ain't never been a chairful of bowlies.

Now having my pc encrypted by bad guys or stolen by detritus. That's a big deal.

That wasn't this issue.  So I don't think you really understand.

My apologies.

I thought you were referring to all the extra plugins listed I don't own when I go into the VST folder to instantiate one that I do have. It's a long list brought on by the dlls you referred to, I thought.

But perhaps I should have listened to my first instincts and just kept quiet. I had a few minutes to kill :)

It use to bother me too, but with the custom shop i understand why they do it. It's nice to be able to try everything without having to download it.
IK you either love them or hate them, but they do make good stuff, and you can get great deals if your patient.

This wasn't suppose to be a Custom Shop. It's not about the quality of plugins but the underhanded malware type installer.  Imagine if Waves or Melda did the exact same thing.

I learned my lesson on this one. Don't install a CS.  Another person had this same issue. There are some of those plugins in that folder I will eventually get but I don't want them in there now as demos.

Softube does this also...their installer installs all the plugins
but only activates the licensed ones...others do this also

Universal Audio does this for their UAD plugins. It is pretty annoying. I have all but one of the IK stuff so I never really noticed it.

I thought Melda does something like that too. I remember someone complaining on KVR about it.

Yeah, it's a pain to have the demos plugging up ( :-) ) plugin lists ... I still love all of my IKM stuff though.

I created a custom layout that only shows what I own.  This works great unless you're using the T-RackS container.

In Reaper I use custom folders to present only what I use.  Reaper also has smart plugin folders, but I haven't been smart enough to figger those out.  Yet.

Sort of, it moves the dll's to my vst folder when they're activated, the unactivated ones don't show up in my plugin list.
