I would expect that Platinum will continue to run for many more years, so no rush to learn another DAW, until changes in Windows someday make that a necessity.

i think that time will come in less than one year, if recent events are considered the new norm

You do realize that you can unplug the network to avoid all updates, and the computer will continue to run as is.

Nobody is forcing you to run updates if you really don't want them!

Agreed. I'm surprised there are so many comments about folks thinking of Studio One as the first option,

probably to do with folks' requirements from a daw, and for me the lack of dongle shenanigans is also a thing

i'm not sure if that's satire or not, but if not give studio one a serious try, there's almost no learning curve if you've used other daws

Well after all these years, Sonar 8.5 still runs, and it has not been developed since X1 was released.

Of course we will still need a forum where Craig can tell us how to work around any bugs we encounter!

I don't know. I like joeb1cannoli's comment....."like being with a woman who's already said she's going to leave."

I'm looking at other DAWs, S1 Pro is looking like a contender. There are a few to choose from, just want to make a wise decision.

Just feeling sad and pi$sed.

what about pro tools or logic pro or ableton live?

PT is what I went to after leaving Sonar. A bit of a steep learning curve and not everything you know in Sonar translates over but may well be worth it. Check out Avid.com and the DUC which is the PT forum of choice. Be aware PT uses an iLok dongle.

Which PT if I may ask? I was there this morning looking at PT 12 I believe.
I hate to spend money but need to get something.

*I really don't want to spend extra money now...second grandchild is on the way!!! 😊
