no bitflipper, I think we are trying to secure our working future with a DAW that will have support in case there are compatibility issues, O/S issues, etc.

I get that. There is certainly the possibility that eventually Microsoft will break something and there'll be no one to fix it. Eventually.

OTOH, I am still using Adobe Audition 3, which stopped development in 2007, as well as software development tools that date back to the 90's. I don't freak out when a vendor goes away, as long as they leave the software in a stable state and open up copy protections (like Adobe did for AA3). It's quite probable that SONAR will continue to meet my recording needs for life (admittedly, I have a bad heart, so that's not an overly optimistic prediction).

Of the others I tried, Studio One would be my top choice. None of them took me away from Sonar, but if I had to switch, and it appears that is now going to be the case sooner or later, Studio One would be my choice.

It is indeed always possible software continues to work no matter what. Unfortunately, in some working situations, it's a real gamble since you can't just switch instantly. There's learning and familiarizing oneself with the new software. Safeguarding that now ensures no downtime, etc.
Sorry to hear the health issue.

299 USD to crossgrade to Studio One?

I think I'll be giving that a miss...

£85 for Artist sounds kinda okay, and would probably do for what I create nowadays... Might have a gander at that...

Ah... £42.60 when you add it to your cart...

Strike that... Studio One Artist is 32 bit... Does that matter? I dunno, but I'm all 64 bit this end...

Studio One is currently having a BF half price sale, FWIW.

I have used Cakewalk Products since the mid-90's. I enjoy using SPlat and would love to stick with it if there is any hope that development will continue at some point in the future. I am not at all confident that that is going to be the case.

Not all incompatibilities come from the OS. There are always new interfaces that won't support Sonar as well as new plugins and VSTi's.

I was a Samplitude user before I switched to SONAR (long story short, I used Logic on a PC until Windows updates started crippling it, and I chose SONAR for various reasons). I actually own a current version. It has a solid audio engine, but there still are a few features I personally need.

Any thoughts on Samplitude?
I have tested in the past myself, seemed like a viable alt.

Thanks, Kenny.

I had a look at that and it appears to be an upgrade and not a crossgrade. Am I looking in the right place?

32bit internal audio processing. It is 64bit as an application in Windows.
