It's good to collect opinions while the community remains active. I'm not sure I've seen a commitment to keep the forums running; only the download servers.

Should I be taking all my Sonar bundles and converting them to something else that Cubase can read?
Is Cubase likely to issue the same notice?

Just some questions.

Of the others I tried, Studio One would be my top choice. None of them took me away from Sonar, but if I had to switch, and it appears that is now going to be the case sooner or later, Studio One would be my choice.

my conclusion as well.  I switched to S1 for a year or so, and liked it a lot, but was tempted back to Sonar with X3 😀   I've kept S1 updated because I planned to use it for the Mastering page, and if Sonar starts to tank I'll likely re-familiarize myself with S1.  It has some fantastic and unique things for composing and work flow.  But let's hope the announcement is just a speed bump and someone picks up CW.

Interesting that no one has mentioned ABLETON yet :D

I use Live to sketch out ideas in the session view, but I then develop it Sonar. The next couple songs I do I'll try the whole thing in Live.

I use Cubase. It is the most feature rich DAW on the market. Steinberg have introduced so many incredible features in the last few years, its not just a DAW but a composition tool (e.g. Chord tracks). it's miles ahead of the competition I think. Studio One is a beautiful, highly optimised stable DAW - which has some brilliant, and innovative features but lacks the depth of Cubase.

will Harrison accept waves plugin is it a full daw

If you are planning on trying to use Mixbus as a fully fledged DAW, I would STRONGLY advise you first to demo the product. It can be done of course, but there is a reason most people only use it for mixing stems etc created in another product.

Essentially - what can Splat do that S1(pro) can't?
Or are there any workflow issues in S1pro compared to Splat?

(and are there any themes for S1?)
(and I suppose Momentum is dead in the water ...)

Could be, but I don't do Dongles....

Anyone with first hand experience with S1 Midi implementation?  I do 90% stuff with midi and external modules.

The problem is, if you switch to something else, what happens to all the legacy projects you created in Sonar? Can any of these other programs convert them?

Not convert them but you could pull the audio into another daw. I did that with several Sonar 8 Producer sessions when I moved over to ProTools and Digital Performer. As long as it's all audio and not dependent on plugs specific to Sonar the audio will play just fine.
