  • Can I download the revised X2 manual without the a patch?

I'm working through the X2 manual and there seem to be quite a few errors. I know they fixed a bunch of stuff in the manual with the release of the patch but I'm not installing it right away (sorry... too many problems being reported). I also like to keep a copy on my laptop instead of firing up the DAW every time. I'm hoping that I can just snag the manual somewhere by itself without having to mess around with a big download, extracting or moving stuff around between my computers. Lazy? Perhaps but I figure if the original manual is up for download the revised one should be somewhere too... I just can't seem to find it.

Thanks.

If you are talking about the Reference Manual I don't know of a revised version. Now if there were one I would be very happy. The help file has all the new stuff in it and it has most likely had some revisions.

Yeah, in the X2a features/fix list they say they corrected some things in the manual. If I hadn't already know certain things working through the tuts would have been confusing if not impossible. I'm concerned once I start digging into things I have no clue about I might get stumped.

I found this. Beepster.

I also saw this "Numerous documentation corrections from received feedback"That could mean anything.

Cheers, that's where I snagged my current copy from. The date on that page implies it's still the original. Thanks though.

I could be wrong, but I recall seeing somewhere that the corrections were made in the on-line version of the manual, and no mention was made of the pdf version. My DAW does not have internet capablity, so I'm hoping that Cakewalk eventually updates the pdf version as well.

An updated pdf would be nice; at least they send out an updated windows help file.

Yeah, I just checked that out and it looks like SOME of the errors are gone (not all) so I guess if I get stumped I'll find that section online. I find the online format to be harder to navigate than the PDF version though so I'll stick to what I've got and as I said just reference the online version when needed.

Thanks for the tip. Not sure why that didn't occur to me before.

Agreed, I usually rely on the pdf. FYI, the X2a patch updated the local help too.

I should point out to everyone reading this though that they released the X2 manual only about a week or so after they released the program which was very cool. Hopefully they'll get an updated PDF happening in the new year.

I'd say getting the tuts fixed at least should be a priority though. I kind of feel like a numbskull now after telling so many new users to work through them when I'm now struggling myself... and I've actually done the tuts and done most of the stuff in them before. lol

If I had the time I'd make the corrections myself and post them but I think I'd better just keep ploughing through my epic undertaking.
