I didn't hear the earlier mixes. I can't put my finger on it either but I would start by removing the reverb. Either there is to much reverb or the EQing is making it thin. Or both. Great vocals!

For the whole mix, by today's standards, is a wash with reverb which is similar to the original, however listening to the original track by the Verve, whilst the backing track has quite heavy reverb the vocal sits in a pleasant little island with much less reverb which lets it stand out just in front of the music.  
 
This is your tack and your interpretation of the tune but perhaps as suggested above back off the reverb on the vox and you may find it becomes a little more alive.

Guitarpima... Glad you liked the vocs.  Will work on the verb issue.

Apparently it does need more depth, I'm all over it.  Would like to get it at least 99% right... ;)

Bump... I think I made the necessary adjustment on the vocs, took a lot of verb off them, per advice from comments.  Also left the wet voc version up for comparison.
