It's safe but not necessary
Bear in mind that 8.5 contained plugins that were not shipped with either X1 or X2 tread carefully.

I'd leave them all installed - the amount of hard drive space they occupy is minimal, and if you're contemplating removing them because of space issues, then you'd be better of investing in a larger hard drive

I fully concur with Bristol. You can remove them but you will gain very little and if not done right you could hurt your install of the plugins. However even if that did happen its a very simple matter to just install those few plugins.

Remember though do not install any of the plugins that are current with X2. They have been updated. You want to keep those as they are.

The lexicon reverb and some patches for DimPro (on the additional content disk) are not included in the X series.

I've just used the gift coupon to upgrade from X1 to X2 (essential). I don't have 8.5 and I haven't really worked on any song with X1, and I don't have much hard drive space left. Will I have any problem deleting X1? (I've already backed up drum maps, key bindings, color sets, etc.)

Removing X1 would not be a problem but don't expect to reclaim much disk space.

Thanks. I just don't like to keep something I won't use anymore.
