@logic by any chance when you upgraded did you switch from 32-bit version to 64-biot or vice verse? I know when I tried running the projects I created with the 32-bit version, I ran into some issues because of plugins

I am probably gonna take some heat for this but, I don't use 64 bit. even though I have over 4 gigs of Ram. I still use 32 bit for a lot of reasons. Sonar to me seems very stable and I have never had a lot of the issues I read about in here.

I am not to saying it is because I use the 32 bit version. I do upgrade while the older version of Sonar is in still in place. That is good advice about setting up the hardware for the older files. Thanks for sharing that.

I had always kept a separate 32bit Sonar install until Sonar X2. I had seen the 64 bit advantage and now finally upgraded accordingly. I find 64 bit Sonar faster, slicker and more robust. Old 32 plugins actually still work better than I expected but I have simply decided to move on and away from those that that fail. Even my lovely liquid mix. I have upgraded my waves to version 9 and just abandoned the odd plugin that I was wedded too in 32 bit. No regrets. Lots of advantages.

I switched 2 years ago from using Logic Audio to Sonar 8.5 Producer, then to X1 and X2.

It has been a frustrating mission to try and make music ever since...

Every time I think I'm getting close to knowing what I'm doing a new update comes along to mess things up. I'm desperately tried to re-load and work on 8.5 projects, then X1 projects and now X2 projects all in the space of 24 months! I wouldn't mind the fact that Cakewalk can't seem to make it's mind up about how to develop their software, but should I really be paying to trouble-shoot it for them?!!

My old projects just won't load, why don't they integrate!!

I've tried many times to load X1 projects in X2 and it just keeps crashing my system!

Cakewalk - why is your software so prone to bugs when you update/upgrade software?!!

So fed up as I have spent a fortune switching to your software and now I just wish I'd gone Mac...
No idea why you are having issues, but I have never found this to be a problem....I have updated full versions on serious projects and haven't skipped a beat...   If you can do this in the middle of a TV show Cakewalk is doing something right....At least that has been my experience....best of luck.
