  • Latency Adjustment fine in Sonar 8.5 but wrong in X1

Okay, I'm a little late to the X1/X2 party, but since upgrading from Sonar 8.5 to X1 I noticed that when recording multiple takes my timing keeps slipping and slipping to the point that when I stop recording I'm way off in later takes and a short extra track gets added to the track layers.

I finally guessed it might have something to do with the Latency Adjustment, and it does, but I don't know how to fix it.  In Sonar 8.5 the automatic Latency Adjustment is based on the input delay; in X1 it's based on the round-trip delay, which is too long.

How do I fix this in X1?  Is there a hidden setting I need to change to make it calculate the latency properly?  (Without manually calculating the offset every time, because that's what computers are for.)

Here are the X1 screens showing the roundtrip delay being used, which is wrong:

And then from Sonar 8.5, which is right:

I am not at all sure on this, but I thought that the automatic adjustment was based on a query/response with the interface, which would not be the round-trip latency.

There was a thread with an explanation by I believe Noel, on this - if I can dig it up I will post it in a follow up?  The thread went into how to set the manual adjustment, as well as a bit on the whole thing.
