Okay.  After my posts about not being able to restart X2 and X2 not showing recent files, I'm almost afraid to post this one, because I may be having sound card issues, and this may be part and parcel.  But I'm going to post it anyway simply because its either that or rip out the rest of my hair.

After switching to X2 from X1, I decided to open up some old X1 projects and diddle with them using the new 64-bit VSTs that I got from Garritan.  I deleted the old soft synths and replaced them with Garritan GPO VSTs.  I usually put each major section with a new instance of Garritan Multi-VST, so I wound up with 4 of them - Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, and Strings.  However, instead of using the Garritan reverb, I thought I'd use Sonar's BReverb.  Okay fine.  Woodwinds worked fine.  Brass worked fine.  Percussion worked fine.  So now I'm down to Strings and I absolutely cannot get BReverb to work for that instance of Garritan.  I have tried deleting the audio track and replacing it several times.  If I pump it through the Garritan Reverb, it works.  I thought maybe something in the MIDI tracks was causing a problem, so I used the event list to scrub out anything that wasn't a note.  No dice.  I even tried pumping the tracks through the other instances of the Garritan engine, using an unused port, and they played fine through the BReverb in those.  Anybody have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Are you inserting the Breverb as a VST plug in the FX bin, or adding it as a Prochannel module ?

Thanks noynekker.  I'm inserting it as a VST plug in.  As I mentioned, it worked that way with the other instances of Garritan GPO.  I just tried something else.  I used the Sonitus reverb VST, and that works fine.  Guess I've found my fall-back position, but it irks me when I can't figure out why something isn't doing what it ought to be doing.  When I stop the music, the volume meters fade down like the echos are dying away (as they should) but I'm not hearing it.

Have you tried turning on the "play effect tails after stopping" switch in preferences, I believe it's found under
Audio - - Playback and Recording

Yes, that's affirmative.  And it plays back fine in the other BReverb instances and with Sonitus, but not with BReverb in that one instance.

There is definitely a bug in Breverb (which doesn't affect everyone), but I hope it's going to be fixed in the X2a patch.

I had a strange metronome like "tick-tock" sound in one project, and it was the bus with only the Breverb VST in it. (The full install, not the Sonar PC version)

Thomas over at OverLoud sent me a Beta that took care of it, whatever "it" was...

'Really like the OverLoud group and their great support!

I've had a similar problem with Breverb. Maybe 1 out of 3 times that I insert Breverb into a track it will not work. The unmodified sound comes through on the track, but no reverb comes out of Breverb. I can add a Sonitus reverb or any other effect and they work fine.

I've found two workarounds. First, right click on the silent instance of Breverb in your fx bin. Make sure that "Bypass FX Bin" is not checked. If this doesn't work then it's on to the second workaround which is convoluted and somewhat uncertain.

Save your project and close Sonar, then reopen it. Sometimes this will cause Breverb to work. If not, add another instance of Breverb, again making sure that "Bypass FX bin" in unchecked. If this doesn't work, create a new track, then drag your audio or MIDI to it. Add Breverb to the empty FX bin. Good luck! You'll need it.

I'm hoping this bug has been fixed in X2a. I haven't had a chance to test it yet.

It seems to be fixed.

I've tried quite a few things to get it to fail but it does appear to be a lot more robust

I've also experienced the intermittent Breverb issue when loading too many Breverbs (more than about 3) on different tracks. I've had great success by using Breverb on say 3 busses, and sending multiple tracks through sends to those busses as needed. Works and sounds great when placed as a bus effect. Agreed still seems to be an overall issue with Breverb not being able to be instantiated as freely as one would expect on various tracks, but at least on a single bus you can route multiple tracks through it and it sounds clean and impressive.
