I really want to upgrade but I am not sure if I should make the investment. I have sonar 7 and many vst plugins (cakewalk and third-party. I want to know will my sonar 7 plug-ins like rapture and such work in Sonar X2. Also if I have many third party plug-ins (focusrite, waves audio, etc) would it be wise to go with Essentials since I think I have enough plug-ins to suite me or should I be looking more towards studio or producer? Please help

Are you still 32 bit? If so you will want to upgrade all your 32 bit plugins. If you are 64 bit already than the upgrade is a no brainer. And yes go with producer it has Pro Channel and that is a huge deal.

Wow Sonar 7.....you are long overdue. The first thing I would say is be sure to check your system specs. If you have not upgraded your computer in a long time you may not be able to upgrade to Sonar X2. If the system specs check out and you decide to take the plunge then by all means upgrade. So now come the questions

1. What are your computers system Specs? what Operating system are you using?

2. Are you using Sonar 7 32 bit or 64 bit.

3 what are your primary concerns other then the plug ins

Sonar X2 producer comes with an updated version of Rapture. The full version. If your using Rapture 1.22 you should have no problems. I would just let cakewalk install a new Rapture and get a new Register and unlock code. Like I said this is included with the producer version.

I forgot to mention that the producer version is the one you want. With the discount you get for being a Sonar 7 user it should not be that much more in price.

Well I have a laptop  that originally came with vista I downgraded to XP pro for a smoother use it runs on 3 gigs of ram I plan on upgrading it to Win. 7. I have been using Sonar 7 64bit. My main concern is that the upgrade wasn't worth it meaning I could be producing the same quality of material with Sonar 7. I use a 8i6 Focusrite interface. I am also watching my budget so if I could get away with essentials and make quality music then I would maybe upgrade to producer on x3 or when I am in a better position as I am also currently looking towards getting a mic. But if essentials just isn't worth the investment then I would need to re-plan altogether.

You might want to check out the X2 trial version and see if it offers the improvement that you are looking for.
