New song..... I haven't been writing a lot recently and this song is actually 30+ years old..... just finished recording it for a publisher pitch.

Verse 1

There's country music playing on the radio
Listen to the singer, he's singing soft and low
A little bit of bluegrass to kick up your heels
It's Saturday night and you know how I feel

We're gonna have a good time, we're gonna have a party tonight.

Verse 2
I got my baby with me and she's holding on tight
We're gonna do it one time, and it's gonna be right
A little bit of candlelight a bottle of wine
I know we're both gonna feel so fine

We're gonna have a good time, we're gonna have a party tonight.

Chorus....

Ohhhhh.... I can feel it coming on
Yeahhh... I know it won't be wrong
Ohhhhh I can feel it coming on
We're gonna have a good time, we're gonna have a party tonight.

Verse 3
Well here she comes now and we're ready to go
We won't take it fast, but we won't go slow
A little bit of kissing to start the night
A whole lotta love with no end in sight

We're gonna have a good time, we're gonna have a party tonight.

Sounds like a record there Herb! Really clean, well put together mix. Hope the pitch works out for you!

Dang, I could see this as a Toby Keith song or even a Garth Brooks (at points) definitely Dierks Bentley or Blake Shelton. Got that good'ol boy feel.

Hi,
I really like the song and arrangement.  The final mix seems like there is too much high end and not enough low end.
Please compare to this song:

I think you should remix it for a fuller sound.

Rock 'n Roll! The lows sound fine to me? But I'm in the cans with really good low end. Is that you playing the lead Herb? If so, excellent job!

If this song is 30 years old you were ahead of your time. As far as I'm concerned there's always room for another drinkin', dancin', rockin' and foolin' around song and you've captured that vibe here perfectly. As Rimshot mentioned above, there could be a little more punch to the bass in your mix. I would also consider some tape delay slap on the voice, too, just to add to the chaos.

Josh:  It would be cool to have a major N-town artist pick this up..... we'll see. It's in N-town now for some ears on it. One never knows....

Rimshot: thanks.... I mixed this mostly on cans and checked it on monitors.  The bass on this is kind of busy so I didn't want it to get too clustered. I pushed it as far as I dared. I can always have another look, but as a pitch to publisher..... the perfection of the track is a close second to getting the song idea across.

Robby: unfortunately, no.... that's not me playing.

Guitarpima: Thanks for listening and commenting

Larry:  Ahead of my time......? More likely late to the party.....  and yes, I did consider a slap back on the lead vox. I put one on the BGV but since I mix them low, they are not as easy to hear. Thanks for your observations and comments.

Great country song!  A little light on the bottom but sounds really clean.

I played in a country rock band for a few years in the mid-90s when "new" country was really starting to take off and this would have fit perfectly.   But it doesn't come across as dated in any way at all so I think it would work just as well today.
