I'll be trying Vista 32 soon, but haven't yet.

Although, I saw a post somewhere here that said they were running it fine under Vista.

Hey David,

Thanks very much! I appreciate your support too and all the support from the Cakewalk community for visiting the DigiFreq site and reading my books. I hope you're enjoying them.

Regarding Vista... so far, so good. Got it installed, did some quick tests, and X2a seems to be fine.

This is from the Cakewalk site's system requirements section for X2:

Windows 7 or Windows 8* (32 and 64-bit). XP and Vista are no longer officially supported. Future updates will not be compatible or install on XP and Vista as they are no longer officially supported.

I installed on Vista last night as well.  So far, no issues.

I haven't installed X2a. I think I'm going to get the Windows 7 upgrade first. I can get it at Walmart for $106.

I installed it last night on Vista64 and it appears to be working just fine. I'll still upgrade to win8 after the holidays just to bring my machine up to the current requirements.

Another report of a sucessful Vista installation here http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2740672

I want to hold off on a O/S upgrade as intend getting new hardware next year. The Win 8 upgrade is cheap enough, I just don't fancy reinstalling everything, and then doing it all again a few months later on a new PC.

Glyn, sort of related to what you are saying; I have the Win 8 upgrade purchased but I am holding off for a while to install.  I thought I would wait for all of the drivers and bugs to be worked out before I attempt the change over.  The PC that I bought from Best Buy a few years back came with Vista 64, but I don't believe that I have the serial numbers anywhere.  At least, I have not located them.  I believe that means I am going to have to install over Vista and reinstall all of my programs.  I am also in the process of getting all of those serial numers organized so that I don't lose anything.

There may be easy ways to do all of this, but I am not very techy with computers.  This is still a very usable machine though, Phenom X4, 8 gig ram, 500 HD.
